01.11.2001 Music for movies A undreamt-of success was registered last months as the song "Straight To Hell", composed by Victor for the RAGE Album "Welcome To The Other Side" was used for the soundtrack of the most successful German movie production called "Der Schuh des Manitu". More than 11 million spectators already saw this movie! Moreover that "Straight To Hell" was also released on a soundtrack CD of the movie and on a "Best Of - All G.U.N. Years" CD, which contain a cross-section through the last 6 CD's of the band RAGE.. Next year another music production for a movie will keep Victor busy. He has to compose the whole music for a historical, russian war-movie called "Anastasia Sluzkaja" by direction of the russion director "Jankovski". Maybe this background scenery can also be used for a video clip, "RAGE" will probably produce next year.

20.08.2001 Successful in Zandvoort At the Yougtimer Trophy Race at the Circuit Zanndvoort Victor reached an excellend 2nd place in his class. Victor with BMW 2002 of his Racing Team "Beckers Rennsport".

24.07.2001 "Straight To Hell" on Soundtrack CD In the movie "Der Schuh des Manitu" by Bully, which is shown at the cinemars since a couple of days you can hear a part of "Straight To Hell" from the RAGE album "Welcome To The Other Side". On the Soundtrack CD, belonging to the movie, you can find this 2.14-minutes long version of "Straight To Hell", originally composed by Victor Smolski.

16.05.2001 Back from Tour with RAGE It's nice to be home again but also a pity, that the tour came to it's end so quick. If I look into the mirror I recognise that the tour has left some marks (some more grey hairs). I am sick of having these accidents. The companies which rent Nightliners should think about the quality of their drivers. Also I tell you, check out your insurance's before going on the road, otherwise you may face some bad surprises. Anyhow, the concerts were really great, the audience fantastic and I have new energy to write new songs. I want to give a special thank to my guitar technician Thomas Fichtl for his unbelievable work he did during the tour. This guy is not only a member of the crew, he's also a great musician who can read up all my wishes directly from my eyes. If we need a guest musician any time, Thomas will be the first! Actually the whole crew was great, giving always 100%. Normally you can expect this output only from your best friends. This circumstances makes it easy to concentrate for the shows every night. I hate it, if there is an arsehole on tour who is permanently annoying. On the 18 th of May we already play at the Biker festival in Milano and our new booking agency "Continental Concerts" is organising more concerts and festivals for us. In June I'm going to produce the vocals of DC Cooper for the new Silent Force CD and I will also start recording parts for my new Solo CD. Thanks to all fans for their support, we see us at the next concert....... 27.04.2001 On Tour with RAGE Victor Smolski is happy that the whole equipment used for the large scale production of the RAGE tour was fitting perfectly as we got very good companies like YAMAHA-GUITAR + KEYBOARDS, CORDIAL CABELS, PYRAMID STRINGS, SIGGI GUITARS and BEHRINGER who supported us. At this tour there even Prototypes of Guitar Amps, Speakers and lots of different Effects of the company BEHRINGER were used and tested. In co-operation with BEHRINGER Victor has developed these equipment and it is great fun for him to test it out during concerts on large stages. On this tour Victor is additionaly involved with lots of technical things like Midi and Keyboards so he unfortunately has no time to enjoy the concerts and the great audience like the Spanish one we met last days. Also the crew is giving their maximum effort, trying to realize all the wishes of the band perfectly. Victor is actually disapointed, that one concert could not be broadcasted live by internet by GERMAN ROCK and a Video company as there were no rights to do that fixed at the old contract with the record company. It is also very sad that VICIOUS RUMORS could not join the tour. They are friends of Victor who already toured together with them when he played at MIND ODYSSEY and it was his idea to do a tour together again. In Cologne PERSONAL WAR is supposed to be another support band and probable Victor will play some Solo parts on their next CD. DUKE ,whose guitarist is a studend and friend of Victor is supposed to be another support band in Bochum.

15.04.2001 First RAGE concerts cancelled Dear Fans, Due to an unfortunate set of circumstances Rage will announce that the first 3 concerts of the "Welcome To The Other Side" tour will be cancelled. Peavy Wagner is suffering from a throat problem and which has affected his vocal cords and is forbidden to sing until further notice by doctor’s orders. On Tuesday it will be decided whether the tour has to be displaced completely or if a part can be held. Rage hopes Peavy will recover in time so that we don't have to cancel even more concerts. 15.03.2001 Workshop at Matrix and Autographs at Metal Stock On the 12th of April there's a Guitar Workshop by Victor at Matrix / Bochum. 25.02.2001 Title Story at ROCK HARD, METAL HEART and HAMMER ISRAEL The title story of the actual ROCK HARD magazine 03 / 2001, METAL HEART and HAMMER ISRAEL is about RAGE and their new album "Welcome To The Other Side", which even became "The album of the month" at the ROCK HARD magazine. 05.02.2001 Honour At the "Poll of the year" in METAL HEART Victor Smolski was voted on place 5 of the "best guitarist" and Mike Terrana reached place 3 of "best drummer". For more than 300.000 sold albums worldwide during the period with G.U.N. records Peavy became a special honour, a platinum record.

12.01.2001 Cover and Info to "Welcome To The Other Side" As if there had never been another Rage constellation: virtually overnight, with just one album, head Peavy Wagner and his two new band members Victor Smolski (guitar, keyboards) and Mike Terrana (drums) scare away the shadows of the recent past and present Welcome To The Other Side, an opus which could not be more intense, more compact, more complex and more convincing. We don't certainly talk too big if we say: never before have Rage been as powerful as today! Peavy Wagner, former of the band, main composer, singer and bass player, has a short formula for this realization: "In former times, Rage were a Metal band whose musicians had partly different ideas, now all ideas are coming from the same source. And the result of working with experts like Victor and Mike is not only far more impressive, but it saves time and spares your nerves." In order not to talk too much about the past, here's just a short survey of the past one and a half years. After releasing their last album Ghost, the previous Rage crew surprisingly disbanded. Whatever the reason for that might have been, Peavy Wagner accepted his fate and formed his band anew without further ado. Multiinstrumentalist Victor Smolski and drummer Mike Terrana, who, anyhow, has already worked with stars like Yngwie Malmsteen, were ideally suited for the job, and just a few weeks after their first rehearsals together they played a great show at the Wacken Open Air in 1999. This was followed by a triumphant tour across Europe, a concert trip to Smolski's native country Russia, which was not less successful, as well as wildly acclaimed shows at diverse festivals, amongst others at the "Bang Your Head" in Balingen. However, the true qualities of the new constellation came to fruition when Rage withdrew from public to compose material for the new album. "The fact that about half of the new songs have been composed by Victor is an indication of the excellent human and artistic harmony between us. On former Rage records, there were only just one or two songs not written by me. Working was absolutely relaxed and at the same time concentrated and it gave birth to a flood of ideas. In the end, what you hear on Welcome To The Other Side, is just the tip of the iceberg." This tip is a tough one. Welcome To The Other Side consists of seventeen new songs (and intros), each one more breathtaking than the next. The opener "Paint The Devil", a really great song with a modern guitar riff and two virtuoso soli shows unambiguously: This is the work of experts. The stylistic range of the new line-up can be found on "One More Time", an almost progressive song in parts which culminates in a magnificent chorus. Long-standing Rage fans will no doubt get shining eyes listening to "No Lies", an uptempo track which reminds of albums like Trapped or Missing Link. In-between times, we find the grooving "I'm Crucified" and the speedy "The Mirror In Your Eyes" with banging drums and acoustic guitars which improve the verse. In any case, let's not forget "Deep In The Night", played in a laid-back mood, as well as "Point Of No Return" equipped with Zakk Wylde riffs. The album's highlight is certainly "Straight To Hell", where Terrana's driving shuffle rhythm makes Smolski's brilliant riff get a move on, assisted by Wagner who once again contributes an anthemic chorus. This wealth of first-class songs is coherently supported by the powerful production of the album which took place at the "VPS Studio" in Hamm and which sounds extraordinarily natural. The basis of this natural sound is an analogue tape machine which taped most of the instruments. "Nothing has been triggered nor sampled", Smolski explains. A big part of the responsibility rested on him. "You only get such a warm and natural sound if you work with analogue equipment." If you are a Rage fan, you can only be enthusiastic about Welcome To The Other Side and hope that these songs are played at gigs as soon as possible. Even here, Wagner, Smolski and Terrana do their job properly: the tour is to begin on the 5th April, followed by at least six weeks across Germany and Europe, and they will even be playing Japan this time. On balance we would simply say: Welcome To The Other Side Of Rage! Mathias Mineur
